Site Visits during Construction
4th June 2002
Weather has improved a bit; timber framing of more houses, and roofing has taken place for numbers 16 and 17. No.16 has interior electrical wiring and plumbing already in place.
Above we can see No.15 whose framing is now complete.
Taking a walk, we can see that the creek along the northern boundary runs into a beautifully landscaped park, maintained by the Corporation of the City of Tea Tree Gully
,
and looking to the right we see Mount Sinai still there, but only for the next two weeks - with an as yet unlandscaped creek on the left (northern) side.
18th June 2002
Weather has improved a lot; further timber framing of houses and roofing has taken place, with numbers 16 and 17 having brickwork up as well. No.16 has interior wall insulation in place as we can see from this shot of the walk-in kitchen pantry and some of the internal cladding has been applied.
,
Here now are the last two spectacular views from Mount Sinai,
taken (as we can see) with the 'dozer shovelling up the soil from almost under my feet!
,
,
Alas, Mount Sinai is all but demolished as these two views above show... in the right hand one (shot from inside the gate off Reservoir Road)we can see the 15-tonne bucket loader that can fill a large truck in two or three goes... waiting for the truck to return. By next visit, almost all of the northern side will have foundations poured. In the left picture we are looking across the Community Centre to the north from the cul-de-sac at the top of the "F".
,
The tall gum trees are all but enclosed now, with houses built all round the broader one, while still there is some space around the tall slender one visible from the road. Next visit, perhaps, that will have changed.
